Veradale is in central Spokane Valley. We come out here often and can usually get scheduled within the week. Call for a free quote on your stump grinding job.
Veradale sits in central Spokane Valley along the Sprague Avenue corridor. The neighborhood mix includes homes built across several decades, with older blocks having established silver maple and elm trees, and newer areas with ornamental stumps from landscaping updates.
Flat ground and standard residential lot sizes make access predictable for most Veradale properties. We can get equipment into most yards without issues.
If your property has specific considerations (sprinkler heads near the stump, tight gate access, or landscaping around the base), mention those when you call. We factor that into our approach before we show up.
Stump diameter is the main number we need to give you an accurate quote. An approximate measurement at ground level is fine. You don't need to measure it exactly. If you have multiple stumps, give us the count and rough sizes for each.
Wood type matters too. Dense species like maple and elm take longer than cottonwood. If you know what kind of tree it was, mention it. If not, we'll assess when we arrive.
See our stump grinding cost guide for a full breakdown of every pricing factor. If you need the root ball fully removed rather than just ground down, stump removal is the right option for that.
Silver maple is the most common stump we grind in Veradale. It was planted widely in Spokane Valley subdivisions from the 1960s through the 1980s. Fast-growing, good for shade, cheap to buy. The downside became apparent over time: silver maple roots are aggressive. They find sidewalk cracks, lift driveways, and seek out older clay sewer lines. When the tree comes out, the stump is usually 18 to 30 inches across and the roots have spread well beyond the drip line. We grind the stump to standard depth, but if you need the root system fully removed, stump removal is the more involved option for that.
Ornamental pear was planted in newer Veradale developments from the 1990s onward. These are smaller stumps, typically 8 to 14 inches, and they grind quickly. They are often surrounded by landscape rock beds and close to irrigation heads, so the main consideration is working around the landscaping rather than the stump size itself.
Older blocks near the Sprague Avenue corridor still have apple, cherry, and pear trees from when Spokane Valley was more agricultural. These stumps tend to be dense and branch extensively underground. Fruit tree stumps cost more per inch of diameter than ornamental trees because of how hard the wood is and how wide the base spreads. If you don't know the species, that's fine. We'll figure it out when we arrive.
Most Veradale properties have in-ground irrigation. That changes how we approach grinding near landscaped areas. Before we start, it helps to know where irrigation lines and sprinkler heads are relative to the stump. Grinding several inches below grade can intersect with older irrigation runs, especially on systems installed in the 1970s and 1980s when burial depth standards were inconsistent.
If you know your sprinkler zones, a quick mention when you call is useful. If you're not sure where the heads are near the stump, turning the system on before we arrive so we can locate them is the easiest approach. We will not knowingly grind into an irrigation line. When heads are close, we adjust depth and angle in that area. If a line is positioned in a way that prevents safe grinding to full depth, we will tell you before we start, not after.
Decorative rock beds around stumps are also common in Veradale landscaping. We will not rake stone into your lawn. If landscape rock is tightly packed against the stump base, removal takes a bit more setup time. Mention it when you request your quote.
We also cover nearby communities. If you are in Greenacres, Liberty Lake, or elsewhere in Spokane Valley, we serve those areas too.

Yes. We rake them back into the hole before we leave. If you want the chips removed from the property, ask about that when you get your quote. It is typically available as an add-on.
Let us know when you call. We will plan the grinding approach to work around sprinkler heads and irrigation lines. If any are very close to the stump, we may need to adjust the grinding depth or angle in that area.
It can. Apple, cherry, and pear wood is denser than ornamental trees and the base often spreads wider than a single-trunk measurement suggests. Fruit tree stumps also tend to have more aggressive surface roots. We quote these accurately. Give us the widest diameter at ground level when you call so we can price it correctly.
It depends on your HOA's specific language. Most HOA requirements are satisfied by stump grinding since the stump is removed below grade and the area can be sodded over. If your HOA requires full root removal or that the hole be filled with topsoil, ask about that when you get your quote. Those are options we can discuss.
