Greenacres is a residential community in Spokane Valley east of Sullivan Road. If you have a stump to deal with, we can usually get out the same week.
Greenacres has a mix of home ages. Some blocks developed in the 1970s, others from the 2000s. The older properties tend to have silver maple and cottonwood stumps. Newer ones are more likely to have ornamental stumps from landscaping changes.
The terrain is flat to gently rolling throughout most of Greenacres, which keeps equipment access straightforward. Standard grinding equipment reaches most backyard locations without difficulty.
If you have more than one stump, it makes sense to do them in a single visit. We don't charge full mobilization for each stump when we're already on site. The per-stump cost goes down when you bundle them.
We grind the stump down 6 to 12 inches below grade, enough to seed or sod over the area. The grinding produces wood chips that fill the hole. We rake those back into the void before we leave.
If you want to plant something where the stump was, top-dress the hole with topsoil after we finish. If you're just covering it with sod or grass seed, the chips will break down underneath over time.
For a full explanation of what affects the price, see our cost guide. If you need the root ball completely out of the ground rather than just ground down, stump removal is the right option.
Parts of Greenacres east of Sullivan Road developed as ranchette-style properties in the 1950s through 1970s: half-acre to two-acre lots with older homes, outbuildings, and trees that have had decades to grow. Before the area developed, the Spokane Valley was orchard country. Apple, cherry, and pear trees were planted across what is now residential land, and older Greenacres properties still have them. These trees eventually need to come out, and what they leave behind is a dense, wide-spreading stump that grinds differently than a yard ornamental.
Apple and cherry stumps are among the hardest we grind. The wood density is high, the root structure spreads wide and low to the ground, and old orchard trees often produce multiple trunk shoots at the base. That creates an irregular stump profile that measures wider than a single trunk of the same height. When you call, measure the widest point at ground level so we can quote it accurately. If you have several old fruit trees coming out across a larger property, doing them all in one visit is significantly more cost-efficient than separate trips.
Large cottonwood trees are also common on older Greenacres properties, particularly on lots that back up toward lower-lying areas. Cottonwood grinds faster than fruit wood, but old specimens can be 30 to 40 inches across at the base. If your cottonwood stump is near a fence line, irrigation trench, or utility easement, mention that when you call.
Newer subdivisions in Greenacres, south of Appleway and near Barker Road, have a different character. These are standard residential lots with ornamental stumps from landscaping updates, builder-planted trees that have been removed, or HOA-related tree work. Smaller diameter, flat terrain, easy driveway access. These jobs move quickly.
If your property is a newer build and the stump is from a landscape ornamental (Japanese maple, ornamental pear, flowering cherry): give us the diameter and we can usually quote it over the phone. These are predictable jobs without the access or wood-density complications you get on older ranchette properties.

Yes. Greenacres is within our regular Spokane Valley service area. We work there often.
Yes, and it is more cost efficient. The equipment is already on site, so the per-stump cost drops when you combine several stumps into one job. If you have two or three to deal with, get a quote for all of them at once.
If you fill the hole with topsoil after we finish, you can seed or sod right away. If you leave the wood chips in the hole, they will break down over time but grass can still grow over the area once it settles.
We rake the chips back into the hole as part of the service. If you want them hauled off the property entirely, ask about that when you get your quote. It is typically available as an add-on.
Yes, and that is the most cost-efficient way to do it. We do not charge full mobilization for each stump when equipment is already on site. For a larger orchard job, give us a count of stumps and approximate diameters when you call. Fruit tree stumps are denser than yard ornamentals, which affects the per-stump time and price, but doing them all at once is cheaper than separate trips.
Not usually. Equipment can travel across most large Greenacres lots. If the ground is very soft, the path is steep, or there are obstacles between the driveway and the stump, mention that when you call. Longer equipment travel affects setup time but isn't a dealbreaker for most properties.
